I am in the process of writing a book.  It should be ready to release this fall.  It is titled "From the Cradle to the Mission Field".  Some about my personal life and life on the mission field of Haiti.  also how God has used our (mine and Terry's) obedience to further His Kingdom.

FYI: I am writing a book called "From the Cradle to the Mission Field".  God used a friend a couple years ago to begin encouraging me to write a book.  Then over a course of several months, through prayer, God showed me how to begin writing it and the name.  If should be ready sometime this year and will let everyone know when it is.  Please pray it will bring glory to God and be used as He plans.

December 2017/January 2018 YEAR END/NEW YEAR HAITI UPDATE

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ

2017 has been another exciting year, as you will see in the bullets below and all of you have been a part of what God is doing and should be excited with us. We give God all the glory!  God continues to enlarge our territory and provide for our needs and the ministry needs through each of you.  The words "thank you" could never be enough but know you will receive your greatest thank you/reward from Jesus Christ Himself either now on this earth as He gives back to you and/or when you reach your heavenly home and stand before Him to receive your rewards.  The Haiti people always ask us to say a special "thank you" for them as you help us to stay there to minister to and disciple them.  One day you will all meet one another in our heavenly home because this world is not our home, we are just passing through.  Philippians 1:3-6.  Your giving is so appreciated but your prayers are the most important thing you can do.

  • 4 new pastor groups were added in 2017. Total 12 groups and approximately 200 churches/pastors and associate pastors.
  • Some pastors walk 3 hours to their group
  • The new church "Church in Action" that started the end of 2016 has grown from 10 to 60 with 4 baptisms recently.
  • 2 of the gold pastors from our house group went out to remote areas to invite others to join the unity groups. When they got there one of the pastors said he had recently had a dream about unity and knew the Holy Spirit had sent them.  These same two want to go to areas and start churches.
  • 35 school presentations, over 4,000 students, have been informed about sexual purity until marriage and heard the gospel.  One young lady asked for more information about the gospel because she had not heard that before at her church.  This ministry is being turned over to "Church in Action" in 2018.  We will still help with items and some financial assistance but the schools will see it as the churches ministry.
  • The children's ministry was turned over to Pastor Paul's church, across the road, in 2017.  We help them with snacks sometimes but they are doing the ministry.
  • As a missionary we want to see those we work with take over the ministries, disciples making disciples
  • Our local gold pastors group of 10 now goes out and disciples the other groups.  Terry still plans to visit all the groups once or twice a year.
  • Seeing the ministries starting to be led by the Haitians is so encouraging.
  • Built a house for Pastor Preference who was in desperate need for one.

When the Holy Spirit led us to start working with pastors January 2014, we never imagined what He was up to.  Ephesians 3:20.

2018, we believe more groups will join from other areas as they hear about what God is doing in NW Haiti.  We believe it will continue spreading throughout Haiti in His timing.  We will be spending time with all the groups at their locations during the summer months by using the ATV and motorcycle.
We are also changes:
Our home/sending church to: The Church of Living Water in Warsaw and Windsor.
Our official ministry name : Psalm 133 Haiti Ministry.
In 2016 God blessed us with a house in Warsaw and this past year we have been praying about a change to a church in Warsaw.  When we met with Living Water, we both felt it was an answer to both our prayers as they were looking for opportunities to get involved in missions.  They are our accountability and spiritual and emotional support.
Since 2004, when we first went to Haiti, we have not taken a salary.  We planned to last year to help with property taxes, insurance etc plus to be able to get health insurance, but Hurricane Matthew took any extra donations that we received to minister to the people in some physical ways.  Our home church is not financially able to pay us a salary and help with all the ministry needs.
Our financial goal for 2018 is based on 2017 spending for every day needs:
$10,000 for our personal salary.
$22,000 for ministry needs ($2,000 help with school presentations; $6,000 sending pastors out 2x2 each week to other areas and starting new groups; $3,000 rent for our house and building we meet in; $3,000 to pay helpers in the ministry; $8,000 truck, ATV and motorcycle expenses, phone, internet, propane, gas, food, misc community needs like help with medical or food).
--------------------------------
$32,000 total for the year
Any amount over the above will go to help pastors start a business since they don't get a salary from their church. Or helping build a house or church wherever you specify your donation to go.
Every penny you give will continue to go to the Haiti Fund to help with a personal salary for us and do the ministry God has called us to do.  As you give and pray you continue to be partners with us and God to accomplish His will, His purpose and His ways in Haiti.  Depending on how the donations or commitments come in as to when we will be able to start taking a salary.
Please pray and ask the Holy Spirit to give you direction, then be obedient to His leading.
Not that I seek the gift but I seek the fruit that increases to your credit.  Phil 4:17.

Since our main ministry is building unity with the pastor groups we chose to go with Psalm 133 Haiti Ministry.

We will be in the states through February, so if you have any questions please call or email when we are in Haiti.

We visit churches and other groups when we are in the states, send out updates each month via email and mail out letters 2 times a year to share what God is doing then trust God to provide for all our needs.  He has been faithful over the years and we know He will continue to do so and you will be blessed as you join in on what God is doing.

  • If you would like to receive monthly updates via mail 2 times a year, please send us your address.
  • If you do not receive our monthly updates via email and would like to, please send us your email.
  • If you would like to be taken off our email or mailing list, please let us know.

All the above is effective now but if you sent to Northeast Baptist Church already for January, no problem, they will forward to us.

November 13, 2017,
Our goal while in the states will be to raise $15,000 by March 1 then will need $2500 a month for the rest of the year.

Needs:  Our biggest need is monthly/yearly support which can be every month or a one time yearly support or however someone or a church would want to do it.  This is kind of lengthy but maybe will help.

Each month:
*We send presenters into the schools for sexual purity and the gospel.  Thousands of young people are exposed to the Truth. $3,000 yr
*We send 10 pastors we have discipled for the past 4 years out to help with other unity pastor groups by helping them get started and disciple them. 9 groups and counting.  $6,000 yr.
*We have not taken a salary since we came to Haiti in 2004.  Last year we were given a house in Warsaw so we have come to a point we feel led by God it is ok to receive a salary each month, which will also help us get medical insurance.  total for both; $15,000 yr.

Need a Motorcycle to go to those groups above and also to go to remote areas that 4 wheels can't get to, to start new groups. $1700 for this ministry project.

Rent for our house and building for our meetings. $3,000/yr
Misc ministry needs (truck expenses, ATV expenses, gas, phone, internet, propane, community help and misc $6,000 yr
Salary for our translator $2,000 to 3000 per year depends on how much we use him.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Other needs:  if someone or a church wants to collect food for us to take back because American type food has gotten so expensive here.  and if so I can provide them with a list of items and how many of each.

There are several churches that had extreme damage from hurricane Matthew last year so we would like to help them with cement, iron and tin.  $7500 is what is needed for that ministry project.

We would like to help the pastors get started with a home business to help sustain their family.  They receive no salary from church.  $500 per pastor is what is needed.

About the ministry

Vision:
Build unity among pastors that meet and share regularly, equipping them with the truth, providing teachable biblical lessons in their language to rid the influence of voodoo, false teachings and the traditions of man that go against the Word of God.  Psalms 133

Ministry:
*Write and translate teachable lessons in their language
*Discipling a local group of 10 Haitian pastors to help us go disciple the other groups
*Provide Bibles and other materials in their language that teach truth
*Compare the truth of the Scriptures to the lies satan has put in their culture through voodoo and traditions of men
*Compare the truth of the Scriptures to the false teachings that have been in their churches for generations
*Teaching the pastors how to study the Word through the power of the Holy Spirit
*Teaching them from the Word how to have a New Testament Church
*Start unity pastor groups in areas where there are none, which seems to be most of Haiti.

Goal//purpose
*All that we do and say being glory to God
*Disciples making disciples:prepare the pastors we disciple to disciple other pastors plus their leaders and members.
*The pastors will see the truth so they and their churches will go against their cultural traditions that go against the Scriptures and the false teachings and voodoo with the truth of the Scriptures (John 8:32) so the Christians can be set free and the lost can come to Jesus with no strings attached and no fear of voodoo. John 14:6.
*The groups that start will be discipled so they can help start other groups and teach the truth.

About us:
We were lay people that God called out of our comfortable pew.  We felt the first call to Haiti in 1999. In 2003 we sold everything we had, took a step of faith and went full time to Haiti to serve God and serve with the Haitian people totally depending on Him. Over the years He has taken us through many doors of ministry in Haiti and Missouri, the present door opened in September 2013. Every door we have walked through helped prepare us for the one described above. We have a home church that takes care of our funds, is our accountability and spiritual and emotional support. They are a small church and cannot provide a salary or all the ministry needs. We visit churches, send out updates each month via email and mail out letters 2 times a year to share what God is doing then trust God to provide for all our needs. He has been faithful and we know you will be blessed if you join in on what God is doing.

Wanted to post our grandchildren because some of you ask about them.  We are so blessed to be able to enjoy them when we visit back in the states.

Thursday, March 5, 2015

You can also go under pictures to see the house we rented the end of 2013.  It has some electricity with our solar and some plumbing.  So awesome.

March 2015 personal update

January 2014 we began working with area pastors to bring unity which will help rid the area of voodoo.  The unity is growing and they are working together to evangelize the area.

We were able to purchase a truck later in 2014 and then began showing evangelistic films with the pastors beginning of 2015.

God is blessing the work with the pastors, we average 30 each Friday at 3:00.  We also have the ladies each Monday at 3:00 and children each Wednesday at 3:00.

Also as of December 2014 we now have 6 grandchildren which we adore very much and enjoy spending time with them when we are in the states.  Trusting our 4 children, their spouses and our 6 grandchildren will follow Jesus all the days of their lives.

God's Call on Our Lives

Carolyn Fowler Routon was born and raised in Henry County, MO, and graduated from Clinton High School in Clinton, MO.  Terry Routon was raised in Sedalia, MO.

In 1995, God used us to start a pregnancy center/maternity home in Sedalia, MO.

Beginning in 1999, we began taking short-term mission trips to Haiti.  In 2002, God spoke to our hearts, and called us to full-time missions there.

We began a full-time mission status in the mountains of Northwest Haiti in January 2004.  God put a love in our hearts for the Haitian people.  As a vessel God could use, we were able to see over 120 people come to Christ.  We discipled many more.  We were able to meet many physical needs, as well as build a few homes for those who had inhabitable houses.  We also worked with orphans, and started Bethlehem Church.

In February 2008, God sent us back to the United States.  We were called to serve Native Americans in Oklahoma for a short time.  Next, the Lord sent us to Clinton, MO to start a pregnancy center in August 2008.  He still kept our hearts knit to Haiti, and had us taking short trips there to work with Bethlehem Church.

The Lord is constantly refining, working, and calling.  Through many confirmations, we know He has now called us to return to Haiti.  We are preparing for a full-time mission status again, and will move back to Haiti in March 2013 (Lord willing).  We will be pioneering this time.  The area is very remote, with no electricity, no plumbing, difficult roads, and expensive supplies.  We will need a place to live, a utility vehicle, items to set up housekeeping, and support to pay salaries to those who help with the ministries God has placed on our hearts--ministries to help meet physical needs, evangelism, and discipleship.

We don't want to just feed them, we want to teach them to fish.  We will be training the people in a trade so that they can earn money to provide for their families' needs.

Through Bethlehem Church, we will be doing evangelism and discipleship by providing services and ministries which the people desperately need in that area.  The ministries include, but are not limited to:

  • Prenatal and parenting classes
  • Sexual purity and gospel presentations in the local schools
  • Sewing/craft trade school

Our current focus will be to help single/pregnant mothers and orphans learn a trade.  Of course, evangelism and discipleship will be our main focus in all we do while meeting physical needs.

The need is great, and sometimes overwhelming, but the one true God is a big God.  We know the vision He has placed on our hearts; He will be faithful to provide.

Love in Christ,

Terry and Carolyn
